PDS staff begins each fiscal year with a work program providing objectives to pursue during the coming 12 months. A sort of to-do list, the FY19 annual work program included all tasks assigned to each of the agency’s four program areas—from duties spelled out in the Kentucky Revised Statutes to responsibilities delegated through interlocal agreements to special projects pursued by staff on behalf of individual communities.
As staff pursues these tasks during the fiscal year, it collects over 90 metrics each month ranging from the number of phone calls answered to the linear feet of GIS maps produced to the number of inspections completed to the number of code enforcement cases opened.
Those data document staff’s work and provide focused reports through PDS’ online platform—OpenGov. These PDS by the Numbers reports illustrate monthly work program progress. They also provide the foundation for this annual report.
