Linden Gateway Small Area Study

The NKAPC has been asked to assist the City of Covington in the preparation of a plan for the area to be impacted by the future location of the St. Elizabeth medical facility. The plan for this area will consist of two interconnected parts. First, is the location of the medical facility and other uses; the construction of the access road to the facility; and the reconstruction and widening of 12th Street. How these directly influence the existing neighborhoods in regards to such issues as traffic flow, site development, location and extent of ancillary spin-off uses. Second, is the potential that these new land uses can create for two of the city’s historically premier neighborhoods, Peaselburg and Westside. Therefore, the proposed scope for this project comprises a process to look at these interconnecting dynamics. The timeline for the completion of the study is one year. Periodic updates on the study, meeting information and pertinent documents will be posted on the project website.

Small area studies are intended to be adopted by the Kenton County Planning Commission (KCPC) as a more detailed part of the comprehensive plan for the area covered. Once adopted by the planning commission, these plans are used as the basis for review by NKAPC staff and the KCPC. Study Boundary (approved by Task Force on 07/26/2007)
